Talking in Circles

The other day I realized how I should probably hire a conversation coach. I have no idea if such a thing exists, but I need to find out.

Why, you ask? because my stories take approximately 3 days to tell.

If you are my friend, you unfortunately know exactly what I am talking about.
I just cannot and will not leave out any little detail, even if that means backtracking for the entirety of my story.
You ask me what my favorite movie is and you walk away knowing that I used to love Hilary Duff (still kinda do, no shame) and how I own nearly all of her movies. Which by the way have you seen her one movie Raise Your Voice?? I really liked that one.. it's not my favorite movie but I love the part where the one girl is playing the violin and then they start singing 'The Way You Do The Things You Do' by The Temptations. Okay so anyway, my favorite movie.. the crazy thing is that my favorite movie takes place in the area of California where I ended up living for a year in college...the San Fernando Valley. In one of the opening scenes of the movie it mentions the infamous Northridge Earthquake.. well, I went to California State University, Northridge! Isn't that crazy? & I didn't realize the connection until after I had moved back to Illinois and was watching the movie one day. I honestly can't believe I hadn't caught the connection way earlier but I guess I didn't watch the movie at all while I was in California. I was too busy doing things like staring at palm trees and going to taco trucks and sitting in traffic on the 405 and trying to get the sand out of my purse. Oh okay, so yea I should probably tell you the name of the movie.. it's A Cinderella Story. Please tell me you've seen it?? The football game scene is to die for. When will I meet my very own Austin Ames?.. The movie always made me want to go to Princeton, because wellllll..... that's where the princes go.
..Oh wait, you want to know how I ended up in California for a year? Okay pull up a chair... and maybe a bed, kitchen, and bathroom too because girl this story takes at least 5-9 months to tell.

[Alright, I really hope if you are reading this you have seen A Cinderella Story and understood everything I was saying.. if not then you need to go do that right now.]

To bring me back to my point, I have such a hard time getting straight to the point when talking. Or even typing.. you should see how many paragraphs I get rid of while writing blog posts. I'll reread the novel I typed and recognize the places where I may have gotten a little too far off track. It pains me to delete what I've written (because of course part of me still thinks it's vital information),but I do it for your guys' sanity.

I'm not sure I quite understand how I still have friends due to this condition that I have. God bless their souls for listening to me and for gently suggesting that I get back to the point or for stopping me a couple sentence into my story and asking 'Wait is this gonna be a Kaila story because I don't have that much time right now'.
Patience is a virtue that most of them most possess [or perhaps they are just really good at zoning out without me noticing?].

So i'm sorry if you were just wondering what I ate for dinner and you end up finding out what socks I wore today, when my birthday is, how my nail polish matched my outfit perfectly yesterday, the fact that my dog ate my bag of Dove chocolate (& survived), and how I sometimes get the urge to turn off the work phones during work hours. I would apologize but that might take awhile too...

If any of you know a solution I would love to discuss it [ha-ha, I am hilarious]

Talking in circles 'til then,
